On October 30th, 2017 a large amount of pumpkin waste was found on the sidewalk out front of The Junction Farmer's Market.
Five garbage bags full of seeds, pulp and cut pumpkins were found. One of these bags had about 4 pumpkins in it.

There are twice as many Pumpkin Parades than there are Foodbanks in Toronto.
5th Annual Wychwood Barns Park Pumpkin Parade:
"come by at 9 pm to help toss the pumpkins into the city's trash bins. We had about 300 pumpkins last year - let's break that record!"
Considering the number of Pumpkin Parades, there must be some way they can contribute and lend a hand to our city's Foodbanks.
"There were 80 pumpkins here the last two years, and organizers are hoping to break a hundred this year. Make sure to stay for the pumpkin toss!"

Our amount of food waste is so high that a Pay What You Can grocery store operates on what we consider mere food waste. Much of the produce would have been thrown out into the garbage.
People are living off of this stuff. It's nutritious food.
