Do I live in a privileged family? Is that why things seem so different for us people today?

The brown privileged family story.

One half of my family immigrated to Canada and US. Most of them were academics and became respected professionals: doctors, teachers, professors, etc. my more immediate family settled in Canada and ended up working on parliament hill. This in turn made a TV show quite popular in my household: Yes, Prime Minister. What does this mean? Well my family members were not in an active role in politics on parliament hill. So this TV series explains how the inner workings of politics exist. You realize politics is all really kind of a big game, like playing poker or something. Words, headlines, etc all really mean nothing. You have to read between the lines. You have to recognize that 99% of what you see is Propaganda. No one talks about propaganda anymore.
No one can recognize propaganda anymore. They slip it into seemingly harmless things, like non-profits or charities, like some dark underbelly. Therefore, by association, since you know the brand / cause /etc is representing good work, you don't question the 1% of their business that doesn't make sense.
Like, who is funding them? 99 out of 100 investors might be honest and have true intentions; while the 1 out of 100 might have the worst intentions. Or it could be vice versa: 99 out of 100 investors/donators might have underhanded intentions, while 1 out of 100 has true intentions.
Back to the brown privileged family story.
Living in Ottawa, we met many acquaintances who also worked on the hill and who immigrated fromt eh same country. They all seemed well off and successful and nice people.
Then we met another person fromt he same country, who would cook food and deliver it to us. Our family was introduced to theirs and became fast friends.
So, because of this, I learned that perhaps my family seemed a bit more privileged than the other family. Instead of being academics, their family members were involved in mining.
