Wind Chime (Detail) 2013
In my first year Hybrid Media studio course I made various installations and experimenting in sculptures of different kinds. One sculpture I made was a sound sculpture which was a wind chime combining many elements to create different sounds as I attached piezo vibration sensors to two parts of the sculpture. The sculpture was made from small metal industrial components such as screws and washers hanging freely above a metal bowl to create a singing bowl effect. Between the strings I made a cage using metal mesh and put two ball bearings inside to roll freely which created a unique sound. This sculpture was meant to represent the sounds of the city as it was made using construction materials and the sound was entirely conducted with these materials.
