The trade does not recongize either and only sells the species. This is a 1-2 foot annual with royal blue 1 inch flowers. It is very showy in interior heat. PHACELIA Phacelia tanacetifolia.
Pale, mauve-blue, fragrant flowers unfold like ferns at the top of long leafy stems and attract bees from miles around. Plant every 3 weeks to ensure a long blooming period. A truly wonderful pollinator plant. A good companion plant to all the cucurbits. ie cucumbers, melons, squashes.
Phacelia can not only attract bees but can also help to boost the numbers of predatory insects that can help to control sap-sucking pests like aphids.
Grows to 23cm (9”) in full sun or part shade.
