Canadian Tire
Sheep manure $3 for 12.5 kg
Triple Mix $4 for 25 L - organic dark humus, sustainable Canadian sphagnum peat moss and compost
Peat moss $8 for 2.2 cubic feet, $10 for 3.8 feet

We want to make our own soil mix using compost(black earth), peat, and maybe potting soil.
Mel's Mix:for raised bed gardening and does not require fertilizers. Containing 1/3 coarse vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss and more than 5 unique composts.
"At the Youtube site "growingyourgreens", the expert gardener is using Mel's Mix in his self-watering containers, but he makes some additions. One of these is Azomite, a supplier of micronutrients. He also adds Mycorrhizae products as well." -squarefoot

Many Habaneros up today, mostly in the bathroom.
Planted 16 Futsu seeds. Have 13 left to plant.

02

Soaking Serrano Pepper seeds today.
Lots of Habaneros and Sunset peppers are up, and more Poblanos.
Going to plant Jalapeno sprouts. The Habanero sprouts have their leaves out. We have too many sprouted seeds to plant now. Saving room for Serranos.

In 2 or 3 weeks we'll be planting outdoors. Need large pots for:
8 Tomatoes (Tigrella Grape x 2, #3, #6, #2, #4, #5, and Orange)
1 pot for Tomatillo

Peppers go in smaller pots (5 varieties)
Strawberries - smaller pots, or hanging baskets

Squash goes in ground - might plant radishes next to them

Planning to use 10-15 smaller pots for peppers and strawberries.
Planning to get frozen blueberries and plant some. Got wild frozen blueberries today.

Planted all but two of the Habanero sprouts in the April 26 egg carton of Habaneros. Planted 5 Jalapeno sprouts in a 4-cellpack.

Realized our Tomato fertilizer we used last year was for blooming veg. So our problem withnot much fruit might have been the soil was too acidic. This year we will add calcium or lime to fix that.

03

We know we need bone and blood meal, need both. Also need compost and peat. Won't buy potting soil. Bone blood meal: $6 on sale, compost, peat $8.

04

Got Blood Meal yesterday for $5.83. It had a coupon for $3 off and it's organic. Now we need to find out if Dolomitic Limestone is a good substitute for Bone Meal.

Planning to get manure(sheep), compost, and peat.

Planted Blue Maxima order, planting Honeynut next, and planted potatoes and sweet potatoes and put them outside to make room.

One tray of Poblanos is dead. It was over the oven and two nights ago the oven was on high and the sprouts dried out overnight. Still have 2 or 3 healthy trays of Poblanos though.

The newer Honeynut sprouts are growing their third leaves now. The recent Futsu sprout has a problem with disfigured cotyledons and didn't open up yesterday. Today it might.

The mass planted tomato sprouts are getting their third leaves now. The ones in the large plastic container have just popped up in the last two days and there's about 20 of each.

We have 3 Futsu sprouts, aside from our two large ones.

Sheep Manure (Dried) 1.51 - 3.09 | 1 - 2.5 | 0.33 - 2.25

05

Serrano peppers have sprouted, about 4 so far.
Poblano plants fell. Tag is gone, but pretty sure its Poblano. 8 or 9 of the sprouts were found and look like they're gonna make it. 1 lettuce is dead and crispy - it dried out. Sunset peppers did not like the Borax, one is dead, another is half dead and another might recover.
Put all the sweet potatoes and potato sprouts in garden dirt and put it outside.
Planted all the Sunset peppers, about 40 sprouts, and planted the last two Habaneros. Threw out all the pepper seeds except Serrano, they were getting moldy. After Serranos, we are done sprouting seeds.
Still plan on getting more Morning Glory seeds and planting them properly.
Running out of room indoors, can't wait to put plants outside.

We have about 8 Serrano peppers sprouted. Waiting until we have 12 to plant them all at once.
Squash had aphids on it, and the pepper, so we rinsed off the bugs and sprayed with garlic water.

Poblano peppers are beginning to grow their 3rd leaf. 19 Serranos have sprouted. Hardening off some tomatoes today, its 10 C going up to 15. Yesterday was 22C.
Planted 12+ Serranos in a cellpack. Some sprouts were stuck together so planted 2 to some cells. 9 Serrano sprouts left to plant. Planted 4 Blueberries in a pot. Also got some coffee grounds for them.

25

Thinking of doing pruning experiment with tomatoes, for those that we have two of such as 3 multi and grape tigrella, prune one and don't prune the other one. Mark the plant with a bright tag. Make sure not to prune determinate varieties. Must prune bottom leaves that might touch the ground. Won't prune suckers off of the unpruned plants. Sanitize tools before pruning.
