Poblano

Pepper Ancho
Dark green, heart-shaped peppers with glossy skin. 15 cm long. Only slightly hot. Popular mexican pepper used for chiles rellenos (stuffed peppers) and moles. Called Poblano fresh and Ancho once dried. Excellent for stuffing or cooking on the grill. Tall plants (75 cm). Often served stuffed with refried beans or meat and covered with melted cheese. 90-95 days. solanaseeds

Because they are notoriously hard to germinate, for colder regions try germinating earlier, for example in February.
Plant poblano pepper seeds indoors eight to 12 weeks before the last average frost date. Keep the seed tray in a warm, well-lit area. The seeds will germinate best with a heat mat and supplemental lighting. Keep the potting mix slightly moist. Seeds germinate in about two weeks.

Transplant the seedlings to individual pots when they are about 2 inches (5 cm.) tall. Plant the seedlings in the garden when they’re 5 to 6 inches (12-15 cm.) tall, but harden them off for a couple of weeks first.
Nighttime temperatures should be between 60 and 75 F. (15-24 C.).
Poblano peppers need full sunlight and rich, well-drained soil that has been amended with compost or well-rotted manure. Fertilize the plants about six weeks after planting using a water-soluble fertilizer. Water as needed to keep the soil moist but never soggy.

A thin layer of mulch will prevent evaporation and keep weeds in check. Poblano peppers are ready to harvest when they’re 4 to 6 inches (10-15 cm.) long, approximately 65 days after planting seeds.
Maturity: 110 to 120 Days

Poblano seeds germinate fairly slowly in comparison to other varieties so should be started 8-12 weeks before the last frost date. Starting indoors in most regions other than the deep south is advisable.

Seeds and seedlings should be kept well watered and warm. In the ballpark of 80 F if possible. Don't allow the soil to remain persistently wet and soggy as damping off is at times an issue. Once the seedlings emerge good air circulation should be provided.

They do not require any exhaustive fertilizer regimen, just a healthy dose of organic fertilizer once they sprout and then a weak dose once they are transplanted into the soil. Avoid high nitrogen fertilizers if you want a productive plant.

The plants should be 4 - 6 inches tall before placing in the outside environment. A gradual hardening off period is advisable.
