Rained heavily and long time last night. got about 4 inches in the bucket! most we ever had. today the tomatillos have flowers and maybe baby fruits! we picked 8 shishitos and lots more flowers are ready. picked 3 poblanos! picked all the purple cayenne(?) probably chinese 5 colour. going to make purple sauce!

There are flowers open on the grape tigrella. there are small baby flowers on the lucid gem.

We are pleased with our tomatoes grown out front by the fence, the extra sun seems to be helping production. Looks like we can expect 40 tomatoes each from yellow pear and indigo rose.

It has rained today for over 2 hours, pretty heavily. will check the rain bucket later. One of our cucs that was ready has been picked off. it was growing by the sidewalk. today is a holiday and barely anyone is around though.

ferilize peps, raspberry put chixwire over freezia next year. no pickling cuc. grow baby boo next summer indoors. water cuc every day now.

12

The poblanos are getting to a decent size (fruits). no cucs anywhere. a few baby small ones. so far this summer we picked 4 cucumbers. 3 or 4 handfuls of shishito, with many more on the way, and 3 or 4 poblanos.

ground cherries don't even have flowers. tomatillo does.

Lots of tomatoes -none ripe yet- and tomato flowers.

Lots of jalapenos ready to pick. waiting for some to turn yellow. there's anaheim peppers growing, maybe 1 inch big so far.

13

went to harold's

14

stable flies attack yesterday! they look like house flies but have grey stripes. they come out in the morning and late afternoon. we were out around 7pm last night. covering up with clothes helps. the flies seem to like our basil forest.

picked a handful of shishito today and 1 medium poblano.
Picked a 2 pint box full of jalapeno and 4 medium poblano the other day.
used a bunch of lettuce last night in salad. its starting to go red.

16

Picked peppers today! a handful of shishito, a large handful of anaheim (our first) and 3 or 4 serranos (our first) and 1 jalapeno. having peppers for dinner tonight.

It rained at 11 am for half an hour. all the days before today we watered by hand, 20 gallons or 30 gallons worth. still no calla flowers.

yesterday R picked 3 cucs: 2 really big ones, 1 small. Cut the core out of one big one, and pickled them all, they filled 1 jar!

I think the ground cherry is flowering! its got 3 bugs i can see on it.

Ghost pepper in bathroom cell pack is budding flowers!

next year

Picked one pickle today. another ready soon. Rained today twice in the afternoon. just a gentle rain. still watered the tomatillos by hand. lucid gem has flowers open, and 2 clusters. excited.
Coleus just beginning to root. Sold 11 pineapples to harold last week.
Next year idea: plant maybe one cuc in physalis corner. Maybe. or no cuc. Raise and hill dirt with false bottom containers.
Raise big white on bricks or rocks. Plant tomatillos in there.

rained for 5 minutes in early afternoon. watered about 20 gallons later. seems like its going to rain. picked a yellow pear that fell off. its green. picked 2 jalapeos. anaheims are 6 inches long. lots of poblanos. looking cute. Tomatillos are huge and taking over. so is the cuc by the house, which is still pretty green compared to the oter cuc.

Need to fertilize, cucs looking bad. mostly need the oxalis, and basil fertilized.

19

Yesterday was the coolest day we've had ina long while, it was 79F. today is 78F.

21

Yesterday potted up all bathroom peppers escept 1. all are outside. 3 are in 8 pots, 3 are in 4" pots.

Today the cucumber is on its last legs.
Picked a handful of shishitos today.
Dumped a liter of garlic water on physalis, and killed many bugs. no open flowers on it yet.
Acidentha opened a flower yesterday for first time. its beautiful.

22

cucumber plant is dead and gone. morning glory is still going on same trellis.
Is hot today. got a heat warning. hasn't rained for a while.
Planted lettuce indoors last night in two new kleenex planters. used all 4 seed packs, didn't use the arugula. gave the old kleenex planter to the cat as the plants are old and tough now. She loves it.

Watered yesterday and today. picked basil again. needs fert. raspberry blooming now. needs fert.lots of tomato flowers on nearly all the plants - just not the tom thumbs yet.
Picked a handful of yellow pear tomatoes. they are just starting to blush but quite firm.
Went to cut off dead leaves off our cuc, its got 3 inch-long cucs on it. Other cuc has a 4 inch long cuc.

Eating our homemade pickles. They are so good! very crunchy. very good flavour. we love them. thinking of buying a pint of cucs to pickle.

Next year basil

Watered again today. Having a heat wave for past 3 days. supposed to rain soon. Picked a load of basil, already got one in the freezer. picked a handful of shishitos. have a new acidenthra everyday now. we had a pink tigridia yesterday but he plant looks toppled over.

We have basil:
3 by the callas -purple
1 in front -green
1 by peppers -green
2 by yellow pole -green, purple
1 front corner -purple
1 by pepper -lettuce
2 on stone wall - lettuce
plus: thai in many tom & pep pots, lettuce in coleus

=11 pots of basil. Next year we could halve that number. purple- 2 lettuce -2 and a fifth one. thai might be put in tom & pep pots again.
We will have 3 long pots not used, 2 round.

26

29

its been rainy and cool for the past 3 days. got to pick basil soon. need dollarama fert- not going to buy the expensive stuffnow. but the basil needs it.

30

watered today, picked 3 anaheim, 1 poblano by accident, 1 yellow pear blushing, and our first 2 indigo ros blushing!

31

Planted yellow dragonfruit seeds last night. today is cold and windy. it says 21C, but it feels a lot colder and very windy. dark day too.

next year: keep our own tomato plants. start plants early!
- No blood meal for callas, or any flower. probably none for anything else either.
Next year: tomatillos in bigger container. square red is drying out too much.
grind basil leaves in spice grinder! use for freezing in oil or for dinner.
Put shishito in more accessible place.
