Pest control is always a topic in gardening groups, and some seem to really struggle with it, especially with the majorityof home gardeners wanting their produce to be as pesticide free as possible. I'm getting ready to spray my fall spraying of benificial nematodes, and thought i would share my control tactics.
I use benificial nematodes, with a fall and spring spraying. They control a ton of pests by feeding off of them, mostly in their larval form. This is the website I use for mine, but there are many others out there. Be careful where you order them, if you use them though because it is difficult to tell if they arrive alive (microscope needed). Ive heard mixed reviews about the large company that uses Amazon and i have had great success with the below link.

Benificial nematodes for me are mainly for beetle control, but i do use all three varieties of nematodes both sprayings. You can use one particular variety to target a specific pest or multiple varieties to target a broad range. I will list the pests at the bottom that each type controls. You will also see on the website i linked to, that there are a lot of different pest controlling organisms out there, beyond just preying mantis and ladybugs, for a lot of different pests. I can't say that my gardens are pest free, but its rare that i have to use much more than nematodes, BT spray, and neem oil (and a pro active powdery mildew spray on squash) any given year. Im able to spray my nematodes twice per year, because of my climate. Some will not be able to do this, and often your first year you should spray twice, about 2 weeks apart, to get the pests initially under control. Hopefully this helps some people that have an issue with next year's season! Here are the pests that nematodes will target. Just an FYI for people that live out of town, and have pets. We have far fewer flea issues since using nematodes too.
