Habanero looks dead. 1 lemon aji might be dead. poblano has 1 fruit and 1 flower. moved 1 shishito, 1 yel jalapneo and 1 poblano under lights the other day.
|

Considring doing $5 limited seeds: habanada, jimmy nardello, palermo, black pearl, black beauty tom.
sprouting begins jan 15. I have 30 vitamin bottles to use as pots. rest will use cellpacks.
|
there's room for 8 kleenex boxes on the desk shelf. We will be using 6 for peppers when we start sprouting.
touch of whitefly on 2 pepper plants, not much, keep rinsing them daily to get rid of hem. no sign of aphids anymore. maybe the garlic spray worked.
Planted raspberry canes in a pile of dirt not far from where they were cut. in spring should be rooted.
Paid $4 at dollarma for a LED 100W cool white bulb. it's very bright and radial light. looks so much brighter than the $10 floods from can tire next to it.
|
regular peps need 42 pots. Currently have 30. Rest will go in cell packs.
# of small pots: yelow cayenne x2, yel shep x2, red shep x2, serrano x2 = 8
new and rare: j nardello x1, srp x2, ghost x2, white hab x1, habanada x2, palermo x1, black pearl x1 = 10
ours: big jim, candy cane = 2
= 20 spaces in cellpacks, = 5 cellpacks full.
= 12 taken out of the 42. so we have enough pots this way.
|
Todo: label zip bags with tape.

|
Drilled holes today.

8 high mass(+100) peps going in biggest containers.
Rare exclusive going in medium containers.
3 have 60 seeds. The rest have less than that, about 40-30 seeds.
|
We have 30 pots exactly pus 1 cell pack. more downstairs.
|
put to sprout: sweet bell, shishito, choc shep, orange shep.
will sprout more shishito and choc shep when these seeds are done.
we have 21 large bags left.
today poured boiling water over soil, to rid of gnats, whitefly, aphids.
|
reminder: separate SRP hot from sweet! Grow sweet ones.
put candy cane, 9 seeds, to sprout today. not much sign of anything sprouting of the other peps so far.
got nearly all the little envelopes of sweet peppers ready. will do the hot ones when i use gloves.
Cleared out 4 dead plants. upstairs. only 2 have lived, and are barely clinging on. the yellow jalapeno and 1 poblano. choc shep in bathroom is now flowering. doin well in the window.
Looks like if its warm up here, they need light.
downstairs they look pretty good. it's cold down there, making them dormant even though not much light, though i leave the light on every day. So lesson learned: overwinter downstairs is better. cooler temps let it live with less light.
downstairs: 2 poblanos, 1 anaheim, 1 lemon aji, multiple jalapeno.
To do:
make bags for SRP #1 & #2, choc hab, red shep, yellow shep, serrano.
|
Temp at desk is usually 77-78. temp over stove at 150: temp over fridge: 71.6. stove at 200: 80F.
Sprouted! Baby root tendrils of choc shep and orange shep.
Evening now. Oven is on at 200 and temp up to 86. I think we'll have a 200 during the day and 150 at night.

Bit of mold on orange shep. black mould. so dropped oregano oil and tea tree oil on it. same treatment for shishito, which has no mold but a a precaution.
now sweet bell has at least 1 sprout.
We have 34 good size bottles for peppers. Put to sprout Palermo and Habanada x2. which we will put in a cellpack.
|
choc shep has all sprouted in big beautiful sprouts. sweet bell is nearly all srouted. shihito has 1 or two so far.
no other new action. orange shep still has mold, many sprouts though turnin brown at root. half are brown, other half are healthy roots.
today planted: choc shep(3 mass), orange shep(2 mass).
Put to sprout: Poblano, cherry bomb, white habanero, habanero.
Seeded the habanero today and got at least 100 seeds from 1 l of peps. the flesh wouldn't separate fromt he seed. used a strainer and rubbed but not much luck. so put it all to sprout with a few drops tea tree oil to prevent mold. hopefully it will sprout quickly being fresh seed, before it molds. Gloves were transparent plastic gloves form HP, seemed to have some leakage. next time use nitrile.
|
not really any new sprouts today. habaneros look good so far.
shishito has 2 sprouts, but looks like the other seeds are growing white mold despite the tea tree drops. might not get many sprouts there. maybe i'll dose it with oregano oil next.
sweet bell is ready to be planted i think. might do it today.
spritzed the planted peppers, no signs of leaves yet.
|

Sprout in Fresno today, and black mold, even though it wasnt soaking wet, it was barely wet. treated with tea tree and oregano. sprout in habanada (ours) though root looks rotted off, and black mold. poblano was also bad.
So did a transplant of habanada and poblano. to new bag and new napkin, and treated with oregano, tea tree. shishito had 1 sprout though it may be rotted. will try to plant it today.
Put to sprout 9 srp mild, 24ish black pearl, and choc hab. black pearl is a hot pepper. i tasted it. one BP had 16 seeds, the other has 34.
Cherry bomb is about halfway sprouted. didnt open palermo but can see its sprouting. wil be planting those two in 2 days probably.
Left to plant: yel jal, yel cay, red & yel shep, serrano, j naredllo, big jim. probably shishito.
Expecting: purple serrano, chile agua, chile huacle, candy cane.
Mgreens sprouted! I had left the lettuce seed uncovered by dirt, only by a plastic wrap. it has a slight white mold in one corner, however the lettuce seeds are just starting to send roots!
Also the melon seed is rooting as well! will take pics today soon.

Not having a good time sprouting peppers this year. Mold on the fresnos is getting worse. Mold started on lemon drop too so dropped oregano on it.
there is a new sprout on habanada #2. Habanada #1 dried out and the sprout that was there isn't anymore.
Thinking of doing an experiment with 10 seeds: 20-to-1 bleach solution soaked for 2.5 minutes.
|
Peppers are sprouting! Poblanos have 2 sprouts! Habanero has 1 sprout! Habanada #1 has 2 sprouts! They look a little weak. Brown tips. Fresno has at least a dozen sprouts, however it has mold. Cherry bomb has about a dozen sprouts. Palermo looks ready to plant now.
