cleaned up the yard a bit. moved the blue tub. moved rocks around on the borders getting ready to plant flowers there. dug up 4 or 5 dandelions easily. snapped off burdocks, they go deep and are very stron. clipped the goji plant. soon time to plant flowers.

Busy day outside today. Got spaces for 4 squash, plus will add a 5th between tigridia pots. Got the 2 clay pots up and filled.
planted Josephs coat around the border edge. Planted self collected calendula in between squash plots. (Peachy, yellow, misc) will plant tan acorn on left edge and right edge, and honey up the column.
got the potato planted in 4 inches of dirt in a big barrel. Lots of shoots coming up. got 3 blue potatoes chitting in the window and 1 red one.

we got 1 last hanging planter, no more left. r says black pearl would get lost inthe clay pot. and would be better in fence pot. but it would get drowned out by tomato plants there. so dontknwo what to do yet.

r says the promix high porousity has too much drainage for our hanging planters and is best on garden beds.

flowerbed: easily has 6 rows, maybe 7. not sure if i should do 2 columns or 3.

tday i planted squash seeds. 4 sweet acorn between 2 tubs, the next 3 spots were fairytale with 3 seeds each, then honeynut with 2 seeds, and 2 seeds of honeynut in the colum planter. i scattered strawflower on the back of the flowerbed and in between squash. the net said to leave uncovered, the package said to cover them. i diddnt cover tem with soil. it finished raining today and was nice. put up the white planter.

r says we can put atomic rape tomatoes at the front with the squash.

these days we are finishing up our tomato boxes! people now showing up without making a lsit first. keeping some toms downstairs helps.
bit of a storm today. its been hot 26C. bananas are inside.

We have 4 kinds of hostas. today we moved them from the tomato bed (large leaf) and the green - n-whites from the raspberry. also thinned out the green-blues from under the yew tree.

made 6 pots of large-leaf, got 8 more of the green-whites. will put smaller hostas at the tomato bed.
R put hostas in my column squash planter and my 2 tom pots! what will I do.

re-group method: take out big toms, leave small ones in mass. Do it before they overcrowd and grow into wonky shape. New idea: grow cosmic eclipse in 6 inch pot in the ground. Switch sweet tooth with one of the yellow cherries. So grow 2 yellow cherries in the barrel and sweet tooth, and zima. Maybe stunt zima with 7-inch pot?

We got the bulb mixture ready in the big tub. half bag cow, half bag sheep, then 4 pots peat. divide to thirds and add one topsil per third. the bin is full. too full.

Put dill seed to sprout a few day ago. on the 25th, at night we planted a bunch of cryptanthus zonatus in a mix of gravel(4/1kg), orchid bark(13), poting soil ($1), and dry green peat from dollarama ($1.50). its beautiful soil. there were so many plants! we have 15 bivs indor. 29 zonatus total - 6 outdoors. 5 ruby red crypts. 5 guzmanias. 1 ritzy tiger.

yesterday also potted 2 hanging baskets of zonatus. i planted my corn! and put protective boxes with rocks on them and marked under each corn with a rock or stick. 10 seeds in total. Also planted 4 honeynut seeds in column planted. Last seeds!

Took pics yesterday of some cotyldons which i think are zinnia! and maybe an amaranth! on the 25th we potted up all the callas to green 6 inch pots. Saw poppy cotyldeons today! in the pepper pot nook.

thai basil cutoffs from the grocery store have been in water for a week, now they have roots. we think we will buy just purple and lettuce basil, no Thai this year! so i'm glad to have rooted cuttings.

very hot today. transplanted toms look great and happy. watered everything.
went to nations. got 3 plants for us for $7 ish. purple basil, lettuce leaf basil (which doesnt look like it), and 2 super hot peppers: yellow naga, and leviathan scorpion.
taz chc seedling - ours is huge! gew from may 1st. its as big as the 2 month old toms it looks great. it was raised in te window. now its outside with all the oter oms in the sun. Planted blue cream berry between zima and speckled roman. Saved the other one.
