About us:
The Business Operations and Administration (BOA) team, part of the Information Technology Services (ITS) division, provides a suite of comprehensive solutions to centrally manage the overall business administration of departments across the ITS portfolio as they strive to achieve their mandates. Its responsibilities encompass a broad range of activities, including procurement, budgeting and financial management, human resources and administration, physical space management and portfolio communications.

Your opportunity:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) portfolio, operating as Information Technology Services (ITS), is home to over 200 IT professionals who provide University-wide IT services and systems to enable University of Toronto (U of T) to maintain its status as Canada’s leading institution of learning, discovery and knowledge creation. From direct support to enterprise-grade academic and administrative applications (student, financial, HR and research) to online learning, information security, collaboration tools and network infrastructure, our work enables U of T’s steadfast commitment to being an internationally significant research university with excellent undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
ITS provides leadership and undertakes strategic and tactical initiatives to secure the greatest value from the University’s investment in IT. By strategically focusing on our people and working in collaboration with academic administrators, process owners and distributed IT service providers, ITS identifies technology opportunities and inefficiencies, and implements services and technology solutions to reduce complexity and improve aggregate IT experience of students, faculty and staff.

Your responsibilities will include:
Writing complex technical code
Evaluating programming code to ensure it has validity, compatibility, and that it meets appropriate standards
Analyzing user needs and business processes to create programming solutions
Building and maintaining websites
Designing graphic elements for digital and online media
Creating and producing graphic designs that reflect departmental and/or divisional objectives.
Checking that website design and usability practices meet industry standards.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
Minimum four years relevant experience in web development and graphic design
Experience with graphic design and web layout with experience in usability and accessibility standards.
Experience with Adobe Suite, Photo Shop, Illustrator and InDesign
Experience working with WordPress and Drupal.
Excellent working knowledge of content management systems and web application programming.
Working knowledge of programming to APIs.
Strong communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively and accurately both orally and in writing, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to persons with limited technical backgrounds.
Ability to learn continually to keep abreast of rapid changes in systems, programming languages, and user requirements in highly dynamic department.
Assets (Nonessential):
Experience with Blackboard Learn LMS.
Experience developing for mobile environments.
Working knowledge of SQL.
Knowledge of Shibboleth and other authentication protocols.

Pay Scale Group and Hiring Rate: USW Pay Band 12 - $67,372 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,157. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
