ON Drug Benefit: check medication coverage

If you are covered by the ODB program and need help paying for a medication that is not found in the search tool, it may be covered through the Exceptional Access Program (EAP).

EAP: General Info

How to apply
Your doctor or nurse practitioner fills out and submits the application for you. Only a doctor or nurse practitioner can apply for coverage through the Exceptional Access Program or Compassionate Review Policy.

There is no deadline for these applications. We consider each application according to:

the type of drug needed
the severity or rarity of the illness or medical condition
Submit the form
Your doctor or nurse practitioner must submit the completed form by fax, using one of the numbers below:

1-866-811-9908 (toll-free)
416-327-7526 (Toronto area)

Drugs for rare and/or life-threatening conditions
Your doctor or nurse practitioner can make an urgent request for coverage through a special part of the Exceptional Access Program called the Compassionate Review Policy.

This is for drugs that are still being considered by the CED and Executive Officer of the Ontario Public Drug Programs for coverage under the Ontario Drug Benefit, or are not yet available in Canada.
