Places on Our To-Do List
Craque du Creme
Always wanted to try this place. Heard about it years ago for their flavoured creme brulee.
Blackbird Bakery
Its become a routine treat for us. If were going to indulge, it better be good. Blackbird uses real butter and their own flour mixes, including buckwheat and other interesting grains. We usually get the chocolate cork - a $5 brownie filled with ganache made with quality chocolate.
Madras Masala
Craving a curry. South Indian style. Planning to try a Thali soon.
Kensington Coal and Curry
North Indian spot. The chai is very nice when walking around in the cold. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. The food is good, but not always my style. Will try the tandoori items sometime.
Lindt (Eaton Centre)
We indulged after watching a tour of the Lindt factory in Switzerland and decided to check out our local store. They have similar flavours. Got free truffles and bought about 7 or 8 for $7 - not bad just to try different ones. The real star was the chocolate ice cream. They use really good cream. Amazing and definitely worth going back for.
Whole Foods (Yorkville)
They have creme brulee. We went once and tried a couple of small amuse-bouche style desserts. Next time well sample more of their desserts. They seem cheaper than a bakery with more variety, and hopefully better than regular grocery store quality. Will try it and report back. They also have a nice cafe to eat at.
Uncle Tetsu
Another trending bakery thats been popular for years, so we finally added it to our list. The whole street smells like butter - we must stop by sometime.
Rois Cream
Weve only been there 2 or 3 times over the years, but its so good. Their Basque cheesecake and black sesame Basque cheesecake are excellent. The macaron pieces can be taken home and covered in melted chocolate to make something delicious. Time to go back - its been too long.
