these tasted sooo good Jun 15, 2017 | By jubilee
I remember eating these when my family grew them before, they are so good, unusually sweet. Good to eat straight from the garden. They lose a little color when cooked but still taste just as good.
My Favorite Carrot May 4, 2017 | By Margaret T.
Purple Haze is my all-time favorite carrot. They are so tender and delicious straight from the garden, not to mention beautiful, that it's a shame to bother cooking them.
Buff and Beautiful! Jul 30, 2013 | By Tatiana Podstavkova
I took a bit of muscle to pull them out, but some were almost as big as my forearm! They didn't split and were just perfectly beautiful. It's a delight to have them floating in my soups cut up in colorful circles, and so tasty!
Down right FUN! Jul 15, 2013 | By Vicki N
Purple Haze carrots are so fun and easy to grow. These came up like crazy even when other varieties were struggling. And they are such a novelty wheather they are slice in a salad or cooked in a favorite dish. My favorite way to eat them was to just pull one up, rinse it off and munch! Super sweet and very flavorful. territorialseed

Purple Haze
This unusual variety was a 2006 AAS winner! Deep purple on the outside and bright orange inside, it has a lovely sweet taste especially when raw. Lightly stir-fry to retain a deeper purple colour. We recommend planting Purple Haze carrot seeds after the May long weekend so it does not bolt. The roots are 25-30cm (10-12") long, and slender with a graceful taper. Children love the idea of purple carrots, and appreciate the sweet flavour of Purple Haze. Sow carrots in deeply cultivated soil and apply a specialty carrot fertilizer at planting time. We also like using the Gaia All Purpose 4-4-4 organic fertilizer for carrots. Matures in 95 days. (Hybrid seeds).
Quick Facts: Deep purple outside. Bright orange inside. 25-30cm (10-12") roots. Hybrid seeds. Matures in 95 days.
Customer Reviews
WCS Customer on Feb 16, 2015
We grew Purple Haze last year for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised at the sweet flavour when raw and found when cooked, more stir fried, which is how we like our vegs cooked, we found they retained their colour nicely and were just as flavourful as when raw. The only problem we had was some decided to bolt early and we had some problems with wire worm.I plan on growing them again this year.

They are a good tasting sweet carrot. They work well for cooking however the purple tends to mix with the bright orange center producing a petty ugly colour. westcoastseeds
