From the interior of Oaxaca, Mexico. Said to be grown by the Oaxacan Indians. Prolific indeterminate, regular leaf plant producing large, 10-16 oz., deeply pleated, (almost triangular in shape) pink-red fruit, with a somewhat hollow interior and mild sweet flavors. Popular for baking, grilling or stuffing.

This stunning tomato from Oaxaca, Mexico needs lots of heat, sun, and space, but it's worth it! Monstrous, indeterminate plants produce really high yields and BIG, delicious fruit! This variety is one of my top five tomatoes ever and I always regret the years I don't grow them. One plant produces enough to can up jars for winter use and the green tomatoes that don't ripen before the season ends are fantastic pickled or baked in the oven with olive oil, salt, and oregano.
'Zapotec Pink Pleated' is a late producer that needs the heat of summer to come on. For that reason I would not recommend it for the Northwest or gardens that do not receive full sun exposure. Container growing is not recommended.
