tomatoes are starting to bud. poblano has flowers and fruits starting. ppg has a flower.
staked the squash and some tomatoes.
planted portulaca beside the atomic grape.
pep seed sprouted in the tomato container. they were a small red pepper. we will see.
planted waterchestnuts the other day. yesterday the forecast was Smoke. and yes it was very smoky. this is the smokiest year in a long while. you can barely see the buildings down the road. almost everyday for weeks now.
the hanging planters on the porch are beautiful now. cuke plant has flowers and is a foot long. loeblia looks great. broms look great. geraniums will flower too.

plant the pinwheel zinnias. plant the amaranths ( they are still a bit small though).

move the bench and sort the pots area
plant perrenials: coreopsis, campion (tall plant).
today: sprout and soak tromboncino!
old seed sprout guide

planted the tromboncino seeds the other day according to the old seed sprouting methods. nicked, soaked in sugar water. love potion is growing really well now. planted a coreopsis in the front of the flower bed, planted all the zinnias, pinwheels in the lettuce pots. planted purple alyssum by the step.
glads are starting to come up now. tomatoes are flowering, peps flowering, squash is growing. had lots of rainy days recently. filled the water barrel which we emptied because its stinky. very pleased with the garden so far. gave away the last of our good tomato plants to jaggers.
todo: plant amaranth, ice plant. plant rudebckia, campion, thistle.
time to move the long table from the yard.

went to jags and so got tons of food scraps for compost. threw a gallon of strawberry scrap on raspberry bush, as well a gallon of lettuce and pineapple scrap. and a gallon of whey onto the tomatoes and peppers.
picking a pint of raspberries a day. they are nice.

bought 4 plants at ca tire for 1 dollar each. 3 fuchsia and 1 white marigold with 2 plants in it plus 2 more i stuffed in. and a coleus cutting and a white geranium cutting.

sold 5 pepper plants for 30 bucks. 3 lemon ajis, ppg, and chocolatehabnero.

planted amaranth around the yard.

all the peppers are flowering now, well except the lemon aji and 2 habaneros. the ppg has flowers, the brazil starfish has jumped to the size ofthe poblano plant, the chrapita outside has flowers, the black pearl indoors has flowers. the black pearl outside does nto flower yet, neither doe sthe yellow jalapeno thought htye are going strong. and sprouts coming up in there.

planted magenta zinnias yesterday in hopes of having more than pink and candy cane.

Fertilized plants for the first time today: toms, peps and squash. 1 tbsp each per gallon, about 7 gallons total. planted 2 marigold vanillas. and planted amaranth in the squash pot. marigold sin blue planter are budding. a mystery marigold popped up in squash pot - it might be an eskimo. asiatic lilies are still blooming! its been over 2 weeks now. only one or 2 unopened buds left.

dark galaxy has fruit! they are loonie sized now. blush tiger has fruit too. black sea looks promising.

First squash fruit! on the kikuza. just started flowering 2 days ago. has vines 10 feet long already. potatoes are growing out of my compost bucket. glads are coming up but no flowers yet, and other people have flowers already.

cucumber has a dozen pickles and grows 4 inches taller a day.

first poblano fruits are forming, 1 so far. and also charapita has fruit growing. its only 6 inches tall. we have an orange calla that just opened up. the pink one looks amazing. rich says the bulbs are too crowded. one pot has 3 purple flowers.

we have squash fruit! one flower on kikuza opened yesterday, one is opening tomorrow. one honeynut baby but the flower may have come off. we had to push the fruits back thru the fence.

fertilized today.

biggest tomatoes we have are dark galaxy, atomic grape, blush tiger, frutis everywhere. at least 3 poblanos, 2 brazil starfish. couple charapitas. black sea has huge flowers and nice big clusters. dark galaxy has 3 fkiwer clusters, and 2 fruti clusters. blak cherry is growing baby fruits.

1 marigold is almost open today, looks like french. yesterday the purple peach ghost and the trindad scoprion got knocked over by a compost bucket, which last nighe we saw a giant raccoon walk down our path then toward the water buckets and compost. so we know how that pot got knocked over. of couurse they probably want to eat some of the food we put in the compost. have 3 bucktes to full so far and one is growing potatoes. one has old yucky water chestnuts which may not grow after all. the other day i dumped a composted dirt pot over the atomic grape. last years kitchen scraps. i just throw 1 liter containers of scraps daily into a pot, and cover it with dirt. layer it a few times and the dirt breaks downt he food. and the dirt keeps the flies away.

todo: plant amaranth, coreipsis, ice plant.

Picked our first pickle today. lots of them growing but days away at least. it rained today.

Saw a coyote last night at 10 pm. he went through the intersection by our house and it was a large yellow and black spotted one. we went out to the street to follow him and he was already near Keele. we watched him cross the road with lots of cars going by. he went north a bit then when he crossed he ran south on keele. then this morning we saw a yellow and black bird on the neighbors yard.
it rained yesterday and today a little bit, looks more rain. the water barrel is full but a bit murky and we have another tub for water. our drainspout seems to be clogged. or the clog washed into the rain bucket.
squash are growing huge and tomatoes are falling over!
even with the rain theres been too much heat and we sure dont feel like gardening. its fun when its cool though.

get peat moss, orchid bark, mulch, perlite. thats 10, 15, 3, 10.
Next year: I would get the 3.50 white coneflower from ca tire, and the 1.50 white marigold. and also zinnias at nations: the mazurkia and candy cane ones.
goals: get black raspberry by brickworks.
