Cossack Pineapple Tomatillo
Cossack Pineapple Tomatillo

Physalis pubescens 'Cossack Pineapple'
Duration: Annual
When to Sow: Spring Ease of Germination: Easy
Not a true tomatillo as one would find in Mexico but a close relative grown in the Ukraine, the land of the tough Cossacks. Because its fruits ripen even in cool weather it was a popular commercial crop in Eastern Europe. The yellow marble-sized fruits have a sweet pineapple-like flavour. Delicious eaten fresh and excellent for jams and pies. 65-75 days. richters
