Rained lat night and 2 nights ago. still watered today as peps and toms were wilting. it seems our black pearl in the front is dead, mainly because the purple basil has overgrown and shaded it out or kept it from being watered. the lemon drop up front is doing well and they have 4 inch peppers. still green.

The black pearl on the pole has 1 beautiful dark purple flower. the ghost pepper on the pole has 1 small fruit already!

TOm thumb tomatoes are budding flowers.

grape tigrella has fruit, other "grape tigrella" has pear shaped fruit.

today picked 5 indigo rose. we have a full pint now. beautiful toms. picked 1 yellow pear. our yellow pear plant has many yellow leaves which we pruned today. Picked our last cuc, turning slight yellow, and fat. pulled the cuc plants today. picked 3 more yellow cayenne, we now have 4.

yesterday bought 3 sugar rush peach and 1 mustard habanero for $0.53- Sweet potato.

Still need to get the seeds from peppers in the fridge (choc hab, yel/orange cayenne)

Seed sales 2021, canna lily

watered again today.
Picked 5-6 toms, some with blossom end rot on the yellow pears. Indigo rose are fine. Picked 1 black currant.
New plant today, bought a fire cayenne for $4. my own naming. its green-white-yellow-orange and sticks straight up. Bought all the SRP at SP: 3 peps. they're getting more on monday. only had 3 last timewe were in. we love them. the srp is sweet, not hot at all, until you get the pith. its a lvely addictive fruity flavou, and does taste like peach.

Tried to eat a peach pepper that was going orange. it was incredibly hot and my fingers are still burning a day later. They are hot when ripe!

cherry bomb is also pretty hot, it has lots of pith which is extremely hot. flesh is less hot and made a good dinner. touched my eye somehow by accident and burned for 10 minutes. then i was fine.

06

Watered today. It is very cold today. too cold to be outside very long in 2 shirts and thin long pants. the environment Canada said that i was an early fall. it says 19C outside. picked a large Anaheim, some of hem are very large. our poblanos are large too, bigger than the ones in he store we say the other day. Picked 1 lemon drop hat was green, hopefully it will ripen indoors and not be as hot as it would have. picked immature. will try his with peach peppers too.

Saw 1 single japanese beetle on our lettuce basil 2 weeks, ago, and now all he lettuce basil (3 pots) are all going downhill with brown spots and yellowing. the other basils are fine. cut down a lot of the lettuce basil.

Raspberry is fruiting very well. still green though.

Stormed and rained heavily all night. our lucid gem in the yellow pot fell over again!

09

R picked a jalapeno, half yellow half green. it is beautiful. Froze some more basil last night, now we have 3 small half liters of frozen basil.

11

seed count

physalis finally has flowers! less than 10 that I can see between all the plants. Flowers open on tom thumb. Poblanos are nice and heavy. really nice fruit. anaheims are bigger than our hand! really satisfied. picked more basil today. lettuce basil is pretty much over now. purple and green are good. thai is good.

12

13

finally potted our coleus cuttings, nearly 30 pots of 3 cuttings each. getting low on our pots. put them in the garden where our lettuce basil was, which we took down all 3 pots today; the long pot and the 2 round.
It rained last night but we still needed to water our tomatoes, which the tree sheltered from rain. the tomatoes are strapped to the tree, which makes a great tomato trellis.

Basil is coming to an end. it is growing pale yellow everywhere. Sad. Don't know if I have enough in the freezer. Black pearl has it's first pepper, less than 1 cm and dark purple. it's gorgeous.

Next: split up the coleus in the long pot into 3 plants. sometime soon, split the purple oxalis into individual pots.

new grow list

reconsidering growing physalis: ground cherry and tomatillo. bought 2 pints tomatillo for $2 each at sweet potato.
Want to grow potentially 13 varieties of tomato next year.
So, we can use the space for toms.
pepper are good though would want to move shishitos to an accessible area. grow a tomato in that spot instead.

Also not growing cuc, so can grow tomato in there. Total 6 tomato spots open!
Grow Shishito in green clay pot?

24

2021 garden plan

Raining today. Watered twice in the past few days. was going to water today but looks like we wont have to.

toms for sale

26

new idea: use giant sink by fence and put tomatoes in it.

We are growing 9 tomato plants (or 10).
2021 strike: yellow pear, green zebra, grape tigrella, Robeson. Saves 5 spaces.
Keeping: tom thumb (2 spots), lucid gem
Unknown: tigrella.

Cleaned up some old basil pots today. Watered and fertilized the toms with thenlast of the fert.
Warm days til Thurs, 5 days from now

picked lemon drop last night.

rained tonight. Picked tomatillos.

29

rained pretty heavily last night and tonight

29-a

30

picked our first grape tigrella today, its larger than last year. the whole tomato has a pink blush with green stripes. it's cute. plant growing out of a fairly small 1 or 2 gal pot. it had 3 tomatoes on it, now 2. not bad!
Green zebra in similar size pot has 3 tomatoes, 2 or 3 inches. tomatoes by the tree are getting dark purple with anthocyanin.
picked 5 raspberries or more. 2 of them have grey and black on parts on them. dont know why.

Overwintering: 2-4 shishito in 2 pots. 6 inch?
Poblano x4 (downstairs, doubled up in bleach bottle 1 gal)
Anaheim x4 (downstairs, doubled up 1 gal)
Lemon jalapeno x2 (downstairs?) -6 inch
Jalapeno x 2 (downstairs shelf?) - 6 inch
Serrano x2 - 6 inch
1 choc Shepard (?)
= 11 pots: 4 big, 7 small (+shishito?)
Yellow cayenne x1(4 inch), habanero x1 (in pot), BR (4 inch), padron 4 inch
2 lemon drop (4 inch),
2 black pearl (4 inch)
= 1 med, 6 small pots

6 inch: ghost pep, choc hab, mush Cream container 2 pep, 1 pep 4" - all on R desk.
store soil in big sink, plastic tub.
Next year: raised beds? made of brick?
Use 1 l yogurt as pots (6 inch).

We saved 6 square plastic "pots". one for each pepper. some can go on the top, some can go underneath on the bathroom rack. underneath may be a dormancy. it would be darker, but may be a bit warm with the vent. On the top we can have around 10 plants, and around 10 on the bottom. there are the glass shelves and above the desk.

also have to make room for the geraniums, and coleus, and oxalis, bromeliad x2, amaryllis.

Think about planting the currant, gooseberry and kiwiberry.

Next year: install neting/fencng, make our fence taller. esp on side.
Harvest: " Some unripe fruits that normally would ripen indoors, like sufficiently mature green tomatoes, may never ripen after being exposed to chilling temperatures for a few days."
