Food and Drugs Act

Regulations Amending Certain Regulations Made Under the Food and Drugs Act (Nutrition Symbols, Other Labelling Provisions, Partially Hydrogenated Oils and Vitamin D)
02/10/18
1) We should make more than a simple effort to inform consumers when they are at the grocery store. A more proactive approach would be to educate children and adults on nutrition and the specific effects of said sugars.
2) In 2017 a NIH paper recommended the vit D amounts be doubled, to 8,000 IU per day. To get this amount daily, a variety of nutrient dense foods all containing vitamin D should be suggested. Other sources of vitamin D are fish oils and is also a nutrient dense option compared to full-fat milk or cream.
