El 1 de enero de 1985 se creó el Sistema de Nombres de Dominio (DNS) de Internet. El primer dominio creado fue NORDU.NET con el objetivo de ser el primer servidor raíz de dominios (nic.nordu.net). El primer dominio comercial que se registró llegó hasta el 15 de marzo de 1985 y fue symbolics.com. #EfemeridesADGM
Nope, it's a myth Symbolics.com was the first com name, digital.com was. The NIC screwed up the dates in one of their conversions, the email receipts that shows the correct date was mentioned in public by Brian Reid, who registered the name (and who wrote the check for BIND wo be written at Dec.).
How the original 7 named were picked doesn't exactly parallel the way the 7 top level Usenet names were picked, that is Postal just thought them up one day and nobody liked it but we were stuck with them. It went downhill from there.
This is documented in the "Message Group" mailing list which is archived around the net. It's towards the end. That was the first mailing list and it broke up not long after that, which is pretty prophetic.
